Beāte Tetere Begins Her Work as LSA Vice President for Organisational Affairs

At the Council meeting of the Student Union of Latvia (LSA) on August 8, Beāte Tetere was elected Vice President for Organisational Affairs. She officially assumed the duties of the position on August 24. In her work, Beāte has identified strengthening the LSA member community, fostering more active communication with members, and creating new opportunities for their involvement in the organisation’s work as key priorities.

“I am truly grateful for the trust placed in me, this opportunity, and the warm welcome I have received from the LSA community. I know that everything in life has its own time, and I feel that this is truly the right time for a new adventure in life together with LSA. I want to strengthen our community, build closer cooperation among members, and create more opportunities for everyone to get involved,” says Beāte Tetere, Vice President for Organisational Affairs of LSA.

Previously, Beāte was active in the Student Union of Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU SU), where in 2025 she led the internal cooperation and human resources area of the RSU SU Board. In this role, she gained experience in coordinating internal organisational cooperation, teamwork, and human resources matters.

One of Beāte’s key areas of focus at LSA will be strengthening and bringing together the member community. To support this, she plans to organise community-building events, improve project oversight, and bring educational working groups back in a more regular format. She also plans to develop new initiatives that would make it easier for people who have not previously been closely involved with LSA to take part in the organisation’s work.

“I want it to be easier for people to get to know LSA, understand what is happening within the organisation, and see how they can get involved. One idea is to create a project together with the LSA Board and office, where people could get to know the organisation through discussions and various activities. I also want to create an open-access form so that people who have not previously had direct contact with LSA representatives can take the first step towards establishing communication,” Beāte explains.

Improving the flow of information between LSA and its members will also be an important area of focus. Beāte plans to bring back a regular updates email, improve the members’ section of the website, and strengthen regular communication through various channels – in person, by email, and via WhatsApp. Another priority will be maintaining active communication with LSA members and being present at events organised by member organisations.

“It is important to me that information about LSA’s ongoing processes is clear and accessible, while communication with members is active and two-way. I want to be present, listen to the needs of our members, and create an environment where everyone feels welcome to get involved and bring forward their ideas,” Beāte says.

Beāte Tetere was elected Vice President for Organisational Affairs with 23 votes in favour, 4 votes against, and 1 abstention.
