Ministry of Education and Science

The Ministry of Education and Science is the leading governance in the field of education and science, as well as sports, youth and state language politics. The LSA, as a strategic partner of the Ministry, participates in work groups about reforms in higher education, study direction evaluation, the implementation of the Bologna process, scholarships for doctoral students, strengthening of the bond between higher education and labor market demand, etc.
Eiropas Studentu apvienība (ESU)
European Students’ Union
The European Student Union (ESU) unites 45 national Student Unions from 38 countries of the European continent. It represents the students; protects their rights and interests in fields of education, economics and culture; creates student policies on a European level in cooperation with European level education policy makers. LSA is an ESU member with 2 mandates in Board meetings, that take place twice a year. LSA has been an ESU member since 1998.

Latvijas Darba devēju konfederācija (LDDK)

Employers’ Confederation of Latvia

Employers’ Confederation of Latvia (LDDK) represents employers interests in 58 significant national economy sectoral and regional associations and federations by uniting more than 5000 companies. LSA cooperates with LDDK regarding higher education in relation with the topicality of the labour market (internships in higher education institutions, professional training of graduates, etc), as well as regarding the promotion of connection between higher education and labour market demands.

Latvian Rectors’ Council

The Latvian Rectors’ Council consists of rectors from all accredited higher education institutions in Latvia. This collegial, consultative body coordinates the cooperation and organizes collective events between higher education institutions. LSA promotes exchange of opinions with the rectors in questions regarding the development of higher education, finances and quality of higher education, student rights and representation, etc.
Izglītības kvalitātes valsts dienests (IKVD)

State Education Quality Service

State Education Quality Service (IKVD) is a state administration institution. Its task is to control the observance of laws and regulations in education and to prevent violations, analyse the operation of higher education institutions, as well as to draft suggestions in the development of higher education, give consultations, etc. LSA can report and suggest an inspection to IKVD in case of violation of the law on higher education in a higher education institution.
Latvijas Jauno zinātnieku apvienība

Association of Latvian Young Scientists

Association of Latvian Young Scientists  is a union, which represents the Ph.d. students and new scientists in the process of making political plannings, gives consultations on doctoral studies, promotes the communication between doctoral students and new researchers, as well as popularizes scientific activity overall. In cooperation with LSA, experience exchange and educational seminars are organized, forming shared opinion on questions regarding the development of education and science industries.
Latvijas Izglītības un zinātnes darbinieku arodbiedrība (LIZDA)

Latvian Trade Union of Education and Science Employees

Latvian Trade Union of Education and Science Employees is the biggest trade union in Latvia as an independent social organization. LIZDA brings together 36 000 employees and students in the education and science branches and retirees to defend economic, social and professional rights and interests in order to improve working conditions and the development of education and science.  By cooperating with LIZDA, LSA cognizes views and agrees on issues regarding the framework conditions of national higher education.
Latvijas Brīvo arodbiedrību savienība (LBAS)

Free Trade Union Confederation of Latvia

/LBAS is a non-governmental organization, which unites 21 member organizations and implements the defense of interests of professional trade union members and employees on a sectoral and cross-sectoral level. In cooperation with LBAS, LSA agrees on common  activities, and both sides have signed collaboration contracts with other cooperation partners regarding questions related to the financing of higher education and its linking with the demand of the labour market.
Latvijas Jaunatnes padome (LJP)

National Youth Council of Latvia

National Youth Council of Latvia is the union of children and young people’s social organisations. It is a platform for interest defense, growth of organisations and information flow. LJP represents its member opinions and interests in other institutions, builds varied projects on a national and international level, as well as operates on a national and international level. LSA cooperates with LJP regarding questions related to youth politics and non-formal education opportunities, and others.
Ziemeļvalstu studentu apvienību tīkls (NOM)

Nordic Organisational Meeting

Nordic Organisational Meeting (NOM) is one of European Student Union’s (ESU) member non-formal networks. Its members are student unions of Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Denmark, Norway, Iceland, Sweden and Finland. NOM’s aim is to promote the cooperation between Nordic countries in the scope of education, student mobility, etc., as well to represent a similar stance in ESU meetings. Twice a year members of NOM have a meeting on a previously pronounced topic. LSA is a part of NOM since 2006.
